Third Annual Winter Carnival Art Show

AZ Gallery, in conjunction with the St Paul Winter Carnival, is excited to announce Fire & Ice, the third annual Winter Carnival Art Show.  The show will be held at AZ Gallery, 308 Prince St in the Northern Warehouse and is meant to celebrate art and St Paul artists during the nation’s oldest and largest celebration of winter.

Eligibility

Open to artists in all mediums.  Entries must be original work.

Theme

The title of the show is Fire & Ice.  You may interpret that in whatever way you want.  Literally it represents the forces of winter battling the promises of spring.  Perhaps works that concentrate on the colors or emotions of fire and ice. Or pieces that represent calmness or struggle.  And of course, works celebrating winter, the Winter Carnival itself or the City of St Paul.  Must be suitable for all ages.

Dates

The show will run January 10 through February 17.    The actual Winter Carnival runs January 24 through February 3, 2019.

Entry Procedure

Submit an entry form and images of the works you are entering to info@theazgallery.org by midnight, Monday, December 17, 2018. 

Files of your images should be labeled in the following format using your 2 or 3 letter initials and the name of your entry:

Initials_Name 1,   Initials_Name 2,  Initials_Name 3

Entry Fees

$15 for the first piece and $10 for each additional piece. Up to three pieces may be submitted. Entry fees are non-refundable even if the work is not accepted in the show.

You may print off the entry form and mail it to AZ Gallery, 308 Prince St, Suite 130, St Paul, MN 55101 with a check for your entry fee. Or during gallery hours you can come in and drop off the form and pay your entry fee with a credit card.  (Th & Fri 5-8, Sat & Sun 9-3) You will still need to submit your images via email to info@theazgallery.org

Judging

A panel of judges will jury the entries.  We anticipate accepting 100 images for the show, depending on size.  The show will utilize the complete AZ Gallery. Notifications sent the week of December 25.

Delivering & Picking Up your work

Deliver: Sunday, January 6, 12 pm - 5 pm or Monday, January 7, 4 pm - 8 pm

Pickup: Sunday, February 17, 12 pm - 5 pm or Monday, February 18, 4 pm - 7 pm

Conditions

• Works on paper must be framed and protected under glass or plexiglass.

• Paintings should be framed. Gallery wrapped canvases are allowed if neatly done.

• All work must be within 48” x 48”.

• 2D work must have wire for hanging. No sawtooth hangers

• AZ Gallery cannot be responsible for loss or damage to artwork.

Receptions

The show will be featured as part of Lowertown First Friday on Friday, February 1. A party is also planned before the Vulcan Victory Torchlight Parade, starting around 2 on Saturday, Feb 2, 2019.  The torchlight parade itself begins in Mears Park at 5:30 pm. 

Sales

Sold work must remain on display for the duration of the show.  AZ Gallery retains a 30% commission on sales (20% for AZ Gallery members). Sales tax will be collected and paid by AZ Gallery.
