AZ Gallery is proud to once again host this annual exhibit which features the original artwork of St. Paul area high school art students.
The JCI St Paul, formerly the St. Paul Jaycees, a local civic volunteer organization, has been running the Les Farrington Best 100 Art Exhibition since 1957. The Art Exhibition invites Saint Paul area high school art students, grades 9-12, to submit their original artwork for competition. Art pieces are judged by a panel of three jurors from the local art community. Over the last 10 years, the JCI St. Paul have awarded more than $24,000 in scholarships through this project. And, in the 60 year history of the project the Jaycees have awarded tens of thousands of dollars and impacted thousands of students. Money awarded through this project is provided by the St. Paul Jaycees Charitable Foundation.
Each year the Best 100 pieces are publically exhibited in the AZ Gallery. This year the pieces will be on display March 2-26. The public event commences with an awards ceremony on the evening of exhibition opening, March 2. Students will be honored for their artwork by receiving award certificates and various cash scholarships (totaling more than $4,000) according to three award categories: Special, Merit and Honorable Mention. This juried exhibition is one of the only non-school sponsored opportunities for students interested in art to compete against their peers.
